Congratulations to graduating undergraduate researchers Fezaan Kazi and Sarah Stockman! Sarah was awarded the 2022 David A. Barkmeier Neuroscience Award for her contributions to ongoing research.

Jonah Wirt was awarded a T32 Grant- Integrative Predoctoral Training in Drug Abuse Research to enhance research training opportunities in his graduate studies.

Taylor Woodward received the 2022 Outstanding Graduate Research Award from the Program in Neuroscience.

Kelsey Guenther and Taylor Woodward were named 2022 Harlan Scholars.

Congratulations to Dr. Vishakh Iyer for graduating with a PhD in Neuroscience and Psychology from the Program in Neuroscience and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in 2021.

Inside Indiana Business: IU's Opioid Grand Challenge Moves to Phase Two

BLOOMINGTON -Indiana University has announced 15 new projects for phase two of its Responding to the Addictions Crisis Grand Challenge. The school announced the funding as it marked the one-year anniversary of the $50 million effort.

IU researchers are involved in the fight to end opioid addiction, focusing on elements like prioritizing harm reduction, removing legal barriers and improving treatment services.

New Research Associate, Idaira Oliva, Ph.D.

Please welcome Dr. Idaira Oliva to the Hohmann Lab! Idaira started in May 2019 and will be focused on leading morphine IV-Self Administration studies within the Lab, as well as in vivo voltammetry studies. Idaira PhD from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Texas San Antonio, where she studied dopamine release and dopamine related behaviors during cocaine self-administration.

New Graduate Student, Kelsey Guenther

Please welcome Kelsey Guenther to the Hohmann Lab! Kelsey started in August 2019 and will be working towards a dual Ph.D. in Psychological and Brain Sciences, and Neuroscience. She received her Master’s of Psychology under the direction of Dr. Linda Parker from the University of Guelph. Kelsey will be focusing on how manipulating the endocannabinoid system will affect nociception.

New Lab Manager, Jonah Wirt

Please welcome Jonah Wirt to the Hohmann Lab! Jonah is a recent graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a B.S. in Psychology. Jonah is the current Lab Manager of the Hohmann Lab. Jonah started in August of 2019 and performs opioid self-administration research involving endocannabinoid system manipulations. He also studies how affecting the endocannabinoid system can result in alterations in anxiety and locomotion using various behavioral tests.

Please welcome Romario Pacheco to the Hohmann Lab! Romario is a graduate from Mackenzie University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. He performs behavioral research involving condition placed aversion in migraine models and supports the team with his expertise in immunohistochemistry.
